
Meredith Ray Calhoun is the founder and principal of Tessa Commercial Real Estate, a woman-owned firm based in Birmingham, Alabama, that helps clients build long-term wealth through thoughtful, transformative projects. Known for her strategic vision, Meredith brings more than 20 years of experience in commercial real estate, with a portfolio spanning corporate headquarters, adaptive reuse developments, and complex tenant representation across Alabama and the Southeast.
Before founding Tessa in 2020, Meredith served as Chief Operating Officer at Corporate Realty, where she led a range of catalytic projects that shaped the growth of Birmingham’s city center. Her approach is highly process-driven—balancing vision with execution, aligning stakeholders, and applying a deep understanding of workplace strategy. With experience from all sides of the deal table—owner, investor, developer, tenant, and landlord—she is a sought-after thought partner known for bringing clarity to complex projects.
In addition to her work with Tessa, Meredith is the co-founder of Practice Works, a shared workspace for wellness professionals that reflects her entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to community well-being. She holds a CCIM designation, a real estate broker license in the state of Alabama and Florida, and a BA in Psychology from the University of Georgia.
A civic leader and connector, Meredith serves on the boards of ¡HICA!, The Literacy Council, and Children’s Aid Society of Alabama. She was recognized by the Birmingham Business Journal as one of the Top 40 Under 40 of the Decade and previously served on the City of Birmingham’s inaugural Small Business Council, as well as chair of the board of REV Birmingham.
