Hibbett Sports has more than corporate offices at its new headquarters in Birmingham. The 155, 000-square-foot building also offers a spacious, museum-like setting to display the sports memorabilia collected by former CEO and current executive chairman Michael Newsome over the past half century.
Newsome’s “passion is sports, ” says Executive Vice President Cathy Pryor, and he “loves collecting sports memorabilia, so what better way to pay tribute to him than by showcasing part of his collection.” Newsome recently passed the duties of CEO to Jeff Rosenthal, but continues his 45-year career with the rapidly growing sporting goods company as executive chairman.
Employees and visitors have the chance to view the memorabilia in display cases and a setting designed by Method-1, which is a division of Birmingham-based ExpoDisplay.
