The Little Canoe Creek Mega-Site in Gadsden will receive an additional $3 million from Norfolk Southern Railroad to help fund Phase II of improvements at the 1,000-acre site. This is in addition to the $2.5 million Norfolk Southern had already provided. – The Gadsden Times

 

Alabama has more jobs than workers

Alabama has more than two jobs for every one person without a job in the state, according to the Alabama Department of Labor. The transportation, retail, food service, hospitality and nursing industries have the most job openings in the state right now. – WBRC 6

Airbus deal means more production in Mobile

A $30 billion deal that Airbus landed for 255 of its A321 model airplane at the Dubai Airshow this week will mean more production in Mobile. The deal among four groups included Indigo Partners, and most of those planes will be made in Mobile. – Alabama NewsCenter

 

Southern Research will raze Birmingham landmark

Southern Research, which bought Quinlan Castle, an iconic structure on Birmingham’s Southside, in 2008, will level the building and replace it with the Center for Pandemic Resilience. Quinlan Castle was built in 1927 but has been vacant for 30 years. – AL.com

 

Dollar General hits milestone in Gulf Shores

A store recently opened in Gulf Shores is Dollar General’s 18,000th location. To mark the occasion, customers received gift cards and other items, and the company donated $18,000 to Gulf Shores Elementary School. – Progressive Grocer
