TVA Colbert County gas plant to open in 2024

The Tennessee Valley Authority’s Colbert County gas plant is set to be at full capacity starting in January 2024. The plant in Tuscumbia has been under construction since 2021. The plant will add enough energy to power more than 400,000 homes. – News 19

Former career education program director pleads guilty to embezzlement

Doris Gilmore, former director of the Association for Career and Technical Education, has pleaded guilty to embezzlement and for failing to send withheld payroll taxes. The crimes resulted in a nearly $3 million loss for the program, according to the U.S. attorney’s office. – WVTM 13

 

Austal delivers USS Augusta to Navy

Austal USA has delivered the future USS Augusta to the U.S. Navy. LCS 34, built in Mobile, is to be named Augusta in honor of Maine’s state capital. It’s the 17th Independence-variant Littoral Combat Ship delivered by Austal. – Austal USA
