Maximus Meats is establishing its first production facility in Summerdale, an investment of $11 million. The meat processor will create more than 60 jobs. The facility also will have a retail component.
“This project not only enhances our local economy but also provides valuable opportunities for our farmers and residents,” said Summerdale Mayor David Wilson. “Having a high-quality processing facility right here in town will reduce costs and improve access to fresh, locally sourced meats.”
The 29,000-square-foot facility, being engineered by Beaufort Engineering Services Inc. of Fairhope, is scheduled to be complete in 2025. The facility will process beef and pork products for local and regional businesses. Additionally, it will house a retail component that will provide fresh meats directly to customers.
“Maximus Meats’ investment in Baldwin County represents a significant boost to our region’s economy,” said Lee Lawson, president and CEO of Baldwin County Economic Development Alliance. “This project will generate quality jobs, competitive wages and substantial capital investment, further strengthening our local food production industry.”
