Irondale-based Marathon Electrical Contractors earned a first-place award in the Construction Safety Excellence Awards presented by the Associated General Contractors of America.
The company won first place in the specialty division for companies logging between 2.2 million and 4 million work hours.
The awards honor construction companies that “demonstrate an unwavering commitment to safety and health management, risk control and continuous improvement,” according to the AGC. Winners were selected by a panel of five safety and health professionals within the construction industry.
Leaders at Alabama AGC said Marathon Electrical Contractors sets an example across the state.
“A strong safety program is the foundation of every successful construction company,” said Billy Norrell, CEO of Alabama Associated General Contractors. “Marathon Electrical Contractors’ recognition at the national level demonstrates the commitment Alabama contractors make to protecting their workforce, delivering quality projects, and leading our industry forward. Safety is not just a priority — it is a core value that drives everything we do.”
