Landing is laying off 110 employees around the country, including some from its Birmingham headquarters. In addition, the company is taking 70 other positions and moving them to different locations around the country. – AL.com

 

Fairway Social coming to Birmingham

Atlanta-based Fairway Social, which offers games such as football, golf, soccer and carnival games, will open at Parkside District’s Urban Supply in Birmingham. The third location of the popular Atlanta entertainment spot will include a restaurant and bar and outdoor gather space, in addition to the gaming bays. Construction is set to begin the first quarter of 2023.  – Bham Now

Union says lockout underway at paper mill

Union workers at WestRock Mahrt Mill in Cottonton in Russell County are being locked out, according to the union. Three unions represent about 465 workers at the plant. The company previously said if there was a work stoppage the mill would continue to operate with non-union labor. – News 3

 

Reich Brothers buys Opelika-Auburn facility

Reich Brothers has purchased a 1,550,000-square-foot, multi-tenant distribution facility in the Opelika-Auburn area, growing its state footprint to more than 2 million square feet. The rail-served facility is close to I-85 and Auburn University, servicing both the Kia and Hyundai U.S. automotive hubs. – Cision
