Longtime Mobile banker Bibb Lamar has been named president and CEO for Mobile operations of Birmingham-based ServisFirst bank. Lamar retired in March as president of Mobile-based BankTrust, when it was sold to Trustmark, based in Mississippi.
ServisFirst is “the epitome of what I believe in as far as a community bank, ” says Lamar. “We don’t have a brokerage; we don’t sell insurance.” Instead the bank focuses on handling deposits and loans and prides itself on local decision-making and same-day service.
And he says he’s pleased with the bank’s emphasis on technology that allows for good service with one main office in a city and just a couple of branches.
And if that main office doesn’t provoke a sense of déjà vu, nothing will. In his new role with a new bank, he’s going right back to the former BankTrust headquarters.
The bank has also named its Mobile board and lead bankers, including an array of former BankTrust leadership.
