Labor women’s exec meets with Woodfin today

Wendy Chun-Hoon, director of the U.S. Department of Labor’s Women’s Bureau, is meeting with Mayor Randall Woodfin and others in Birmingham today to discuss reducing caregiving costs for women so they can participate fully in the workforce. Trussville paving company acquired

Atlantic Southern Paving and Sealcoating, based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, has acquired Trussville-based Massey Asphalt Paving, which has served central Alabama for more than 50 years. MAP is Atlantic Southern’s fifth acquisition of the year. – BusinessWire

Jefferson Title founder dies at 93

Leon Sanders, founder of Jefferson Title Corp. and a board member of his son’s The Sanders Trust, has died at age 93. Jefferson Title was one of Birmingham’s oldest and largest insurers of residential and commercial transactions and closings.  – AL.com

 

UA games among those added as United flight destinations

Two University of Alabama road games are among the destinations for 120 new flights United is adding to its schedule this fall. The airline is adding two direct, round-trip flights between Birmingham and Austin, Texas, Sept. 9-11 for Sept. 10’s UA vs. Texas game, and it’s adding one direct round-trip flight between Birmingham and Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Nov. 4-6 for Nov. 5’s UA vs. LSU game. – PR Newswire
