Kilungu Nzaku

Kilungu Nzaku has been promoted to executive director of the Center for Business and Economic Research

Kilungu Nzaku has been promoted to executive director of the Center for Business and Economic Research at the University of Alabama.

Nzaku succeeds Ahmad Ijaz, who worked for the center for 40 years where he was a part of numerous projects, reports and economical impact analysis.

Nazku most recently served as an associate research economist with CBER. He joined the center in 2010 as a postdoctoral researcher and has worked in multiple capacities, including in economic forecasting, workforce analysis, underemployment surveys, economic impact analysis and outdoor recreation.

He earned his Ph.D. in agricultural and applied economics from the University of Georgia. He also has a master’s degree from Alabama A&M University and a bachelor’s from the University of Nairobi, Kenya.

Prior to joining CBER, he worked as a research analyst for the state of North Dakota at the Department of Human Services, as well as at Alabama A&M University and the University of Georgia. He also worked for Care International and AIG in Kenya.
