A judge has temporarily blocked the Gadsden Airport Authority from selling land for a proposed animal rendering plant that many in the community oppose. He says it would violate a 70-year-old agreement with the federal government that says the tract must be used for public airport purposes only. – U.S. News & World Report

US Brick national expansion includes Alabama

Helen, a restaurant opened by Rob McDaniel, is third on Esquire’s list of 40 best new restaurants of the year. The restaurant, named for McDaniel’s grandmother, is known for its steaks. – Esquire
