John Parnell, a professor of management and eminent scholar of business in the Sanders College of Business and Technology at the University of North Alabama, has been named a Fulbright Specialist Program recipient by the U.S. Department of State and the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.

Parnell completed a project for Emanuel University of Oradea in Romania that aimed to establish partnerships benefiting participants, institutions and communities in both the U.S. and overseas through a variety of educational and training activities.

“The Fulbright Specialist award enabled me to help UEO faculty and administrators enhance their expertise in ethics and entrepreneurship, with an emphasis on academic research skills,” said Parnell.

Parnell is one of more than 400 U.S. citizens who share expertise with host institutions abroad through the Fulbright Specialist Program each year.

“This honor is further evidence of international recognition of Dr. Parnell’s many years of excellence in scholarship and application,” said Dr. Doug Barrett, interim dean of the Sanders College. “This work is highly impactful, as his expertise in areas such as crisis management and business strategy are applicable abroad. We expect the relationship in Romania will be ongoing and look forward to additional opportunities for collaboration.”
