James “Jim” Robertson has joined Balch & Bingham as of counsel in the Intellectual Property and Trademark Practice in Birmingham.
He is a registered patent attorney who focused on intellectual property law with an emphasis on U.S. and international patent rights including acquisition, enforcement and licensing.
As a former development engineer, Robertson understands the significance of developing and protecting intellectual property rights, both for internal use to protect existing markets and for potential licensing. He received his J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law and his bachelor’s degree in metallurgical and materials science engineering from the University of Arizona. In addition to his work with Balch & Bingham, Robertson also maintains his own law practice, J.M. Robertson LLC.
