Jeffrey Fairbrother

Jeffrey Fairbrother has been named dean of Auburn University’s College of Education and a professor in the School of Kinesiology.

Fairbrother formerly served as associate dean in the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He has 20 years of leadership and education experience.

While at UT-Knoxville, Fairbrother led several initiatives to increase interdisciplinary research and engagement, strengthening the college’s academic partnerships with K-12 schools and broadening faculty teaching opportunities.

Fairbrother holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, a master’s degree from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and a doctorate from Florida State University.

Fairbrother succeeds Theresa McCormick, who began serving as interim dean of the college following the retirement of Betty Lou Whitford in July.
