James Taiclet has been named president and CEO of Lockheed Martin Corp.
In a planned leadership transition, he succeeds Marillyn Hewson, who has served as chairman, president and CEO since 2014 and president and CEO since 2013. Hewson has become executive chairman of the board.
Taiclet, a former military pilot and Gulf War veteran, formerly served as chairman, president and CEO of American Tower Corp., where he grew the company from a market capitalization of approximately $2 billion to more than $100 billion.
Prior to his tenure with American Tower, he was president of Honeywell Aerospace Services. He also has worked for Pratt & Whitney and McKinsey & Co. He holds a master’s degree from Princeton University and is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy.
