Infosys Settles Visa Fraud Case, Out of Alabama

It took nearly three years, but Jack Palmer has been vindicated in his whistleblower charge against his employer, Infosys. Palmer charged that the Indian tech outsourcing firm was misusing work visas, bringing in lower paid overseas workers to U.S. jobs.

Palmer worked for Infosys in Huntsville. Subsequently, several other employees brought similar charges in other states.

In late October, Infosys agreed to a $34 million settlement in a Texas court case, after prosecutors said the firm had committed “systemic visa fraud and abuse, ” The New York Times reported.

Ironically, Palmer lost his case in Alabama court. While the state has taken a robust stance on immigration issues, its employment laws side with employers — even firms bringing in overseas workers.
