3 join together to try to restore historic Birmingham school

Stewart/Perry, Sloss Real Estate and Harbert Realty are joining together in an effort to restore and develop Powell School, known as Birmingham’s first free school. The building on Birmingham’s north side was built in 1888 and has been closed since 2001. A fire in 2011 damaged the building. The Alabama Trust for Historic Preservation owns the property. – Bham Now

Dirt Cheap to close 4 Alabama locations

The discount retail store Dirt Cheap plans to close four Alabama locations in March. The retailer plans to shutter stores in Auburn, Brewton, Phenix City and Ozark.  – Bama Buzz
