The city of Huntsville is facing a $10 million shortfall in sales tax collection and has asked city departments to trim their budgets by 1%. The general fund will lose a projected $5.4 million in sales tax revenue, and the capital improvement fund will receive just over $2 million less than budgeted. â€“ AL.com

Austal completes trials on new Navy ship

Mobile’s Austal USA has completed acceptance trials on the future USNS Point Loma, meaning the ship is now ready for delivery to the U.S. Navy. The ship is slated for delivery this month and will be the second Expeditionary Fast Transport Flight II vessel the shipbuilder has delivered to the Navy. – Austal USA
