Actress S. Epatha Merkerson, during a speech at Talladega College’s 150th commencement, said she is donating $1 million to Alabama’s oldest private HBCU. The “Law & Order” and “Chicago Med” star also received an honorary doctorate from the college. – Bama Buzz

Kathy Murphy, president of Gadsden State Community College for four years, has been named president of Wallace Community College in Dothan. Alan Smith has been named interim president of Gadsden State. – Alabama Political Reporter
