Hoar on track to be Mobile airport project manager
Hoar Project Management, based in Birmingham, scored highest among competitors to lead the design and construction of the $160 million Mobile terminal complex project at the Mobile Aeroplex in Brookley. That paves the way for officials to negotiate contract terms with Hoar. The plan is to move commercial airline service from Mobile Regional Airport in west Mobile to Brookley.  – AL.com
Alabama unemployment lowest since pandemic start
Alabama’s jobless rate in April was 3.6%, down slightly from March and the lowest it has been since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Wages are also up, says the Alabama Department of Labor. – WVTM 9
Alabama State gets $300,000 cybersecurity grant
The Office of Naval Research has given Alabama State University in Montgomery a $300,000 grant to train minority students in cybersecurity and improve diversity in the field. ASU will use the grant for undergraduate students training to become military officers through the university’s Reserve Officer Training Corps program. – EdScoop
Trussville brewery is state’s first solar-powered brewery
Ferus Artisan Ales Brewery in Trussville is the first solar-powered brewery in Alabama. Birmingham’s Eagle Solar & Light installed solar panels at the facility. The company has also installed solar panels at Altamont School in Birmingham, The Store in McCalla and Summer Classics’ warehouse and corporate headquarters in Pelham. – Bham Now
