The Port of Mobile has grown by leaps and bounds in recent years, but here’s an aerial view of the port, featuring Alabama Drydock & Shipbuilding Co., in the 1960s. ADDSCO, established in 1916, built and repaired vessels for government and commercial customers — including construction of more than 200 ships for the U.S. Navy during World War II. The property is now owned and operated by Alabama Shipyard. Photo courtesy of Alabama Shipyard.
