Cullman Regional has created The Alabama Alliance for Community Hospitals to support local health care and community-based hospitals.
The membership-based group unifies community hospitals through a single organization focused on advancing policies and securing funding to promote local access to health care, according to a news release announcing the organization.
“Alabama is fortunate to have a diverse health care industry with multiple large health systems providing tertiary care as well as community-based hospitals providing local access to primary and secondary care,” said James Clements, CEO of Cullman Regional, a community hospital. “The problem is that we’re reaching a tipping point where many community-based hospitals are having to reduce services or even close. We need to find a way to better support these hospitals, and the Alabama Alliance of Community Hospitals is one way to do that.”
AACH is open to all community hospitals in Alabama. The group will advocate for funding of rural health care and provide networking events and other opportunities for members to share best practices in finance, clinical care and hospital operations.
Hospitals interested in joining or learning more about AACH can visit the group’s Facebook page or call 256-962-5030.
