Ground broken for Alabama solar project

Orbital Solar Services and Jingoli Power have begun construction on a 130-MW solar farm in Alabama for Lightsource BP. The 350,000 solar panels across 800 acres of land should be ready by late this year. Lightsource previously announced the project in Montgomery. – Solar Power World

 

Startups planning Birmingham ‘Hacker House’

Some recent graduates of Techstars Alabama EnergyTech accelerator program are purchasing a building in the Forest Park neighborhood of Birmingham to form the city’s first “Hacker House.” Hacker Houses originally popped up in tech hubs as co-working and co-living spaces for entrepreneurs. – Hypepotamus

Statewide home sales up 1.6% year-over-year

January home sales in Alabama increased 1.6% in January year-over-year, according to the Alabama Association of Realtors. The number of closed transactions was 4,829 in 2021, compared to 4,907 this year.  – Alabama NewsCenter

Birmingham’s Brasfield & Gorrie served as general contractor for a new primary care center, BlueHealth Baptist, in Madison, Mississippi, that recently opened. The $8.2 million center includes 16 exam rooms, lab, telehealth rooms and more. – Brasfield & Gorrie
