DPC Holdings PLC (Doncasters), which already has a plant in Oxford, is adding a second Alabama facility in Auburn. The company will invest $50 million in the Auburn facility, with plans to employ approximately 70 people within three years at an average hourly wage of $30.29.
“Doncasters is a great company that already knows Alabama, knows what our people can do and knows the success we can achieve together,” said Gov. Kay Ivey. “We welcome this second facility and the products that support several vital manufacturing sectors.”
Doncasters manufactures engineered precision cast components and nickel- and cobalt-based superalloys primarily serving the aerospace and industrial gas turbine end markets. The Auburn facility will specialize in producing high-performance vacuum master melt superalloys for use in aerospace and industrial gas turbine engines.
“Every new project announcement is exciting for us, but there’s something especially rewarding when companies already located here continue to choose Alabama for their expansions,” said Alabama Department of Commerce Secretary Ellen McNair.
Jason Mays, chief operating officer of Doncasters, said, “The state and city came together with remarkable packages for us to be able to absolutely make Auburn the choice for greenfield space for Doncasters, and we couldn’t be happier with the outcome of this board-approved project.”
The state’s partnership with the company includes Job Act incentives and AIDT workforce recruitment and training services. Auburn’s incentives to Doncasters include the property where the new facility will be built, a 10-year property tax abatement and sales and use tax abatements.
“The city of Auburn is extremely honored to become home to Doncasters, and we are fully aware of the significance such a smelting operation of superalloys has for the aerospace and defense industry in Alabama and beyond,” said Auburn Mayor Ron Anders.
