Danny Lipford, president of Today’s Homeowner Media, based in Mobile, has announced plans to retire later this year.
After 35 years in the media business and after being on national television 25 years, Lipford has hosted and produced more than 1,000 TV shows, 800 radio shows and traveled all 50 states.
Lipford is shifting the business model of his media company to streaming and licensing the brand’s extensive library of home improvement videos, including the “Today’s Homeowner” TV show.
Lipford built his media company based on his remodeling career, which has spanned more than 40 years. Lipford’s retirement will have no impact on his remodeling company, Lipford Construction, which will continue its normal operations.
The last episode of “Today’s Homeowner” will air on Sept. 3. While no new TV episodes will be produced, all 25 seasons will be available for streaming at TodaysHomeowner.com, Freevee, the Roku Channel, LG Smart TVs and more. Lipford will continue to host his weekly two-hour “Today’s Homeowner” radio show, and “Tips for Today’s Homeowner” radio features through the end of 2023, with the final show and features airing Dec. 25.
Lipford’s daughter, Chelsea Lipford Wolf, will take over the leadership of Today’s Homeowner Media at the end of 2023. Wolf has served as a co-host on “Today’s Homeowner” on TV and has her own lifestyle and décor blog and web series, “Checking in With Chelsea,” which can be found at CheckingInWithChelsea.com. Wolf is a St. John’s University graduate, earning her bachelor’s degree in television and film in 2010.
