Warrior Met calls for end to picket-line violence

Warrior Met Coal says violence along the picket line in Tuscaloosa County in the strike by the United Mine Workers of America has “reached a dangerous level.” The company released video of car and truck windows being smashed. More than 1,000 UMWA member began a strike against Warrior Met on April 1. – AL.com

Amtrak says it needs access to Mobile’s Choctaw yard

Amtrak, in a filing to the Surface Transportation Board, says it is no longer receiving access to CSX’s rail lines in Mobile’s Choctaw yard and needs that access to continue preparing tracks to restart service to the Gulf Coast in 2022. Amtrak wants the board to compel CSX and Norfolk Southern to allow access to their networks. – Freight Waves

 

New Auburn retail space finds first tenant

Bitty and Beau’s Coffee will open in Auburn in 2022, the first tenant in the new AuburnBank Center. It will be the national chain’s first shop in Alabama. The 23 shops across the country employ hundreds of people with disabilities. – Opelika-Auburn News
