Cool New Employee Benefit — Custom Shopping

Shipt shoppers on the job

Health insurance, 401k plan, sick days — what more could an employee want? How about same-day shopping service from Shipt?

Birmingham-based shopping and delivery service Shipt has added a new Shipt 4 Work program, allowing employers to reward employees with an unusual new perk.

Ten companies have already signed on as partners for the new program, Shipt reports.

“Now more than ever, companies are looking to include more value-added benefits and services to their offerings,” says Eric Stoner, director of business partnership at Shipt. “The average person spends two hours a week traveling to and shopping in the grocery store. This new benefits offering is the equivalent of giving employees an extra two weeks’ worth of time back per year.”

Among the companies signing on is Fanatics, which handles licensed sports merchandise. They plan to offer Shipt services to seasonal employees during the holiday season. Other companies offer different arrangements.
