Commerce grants go to Birmingham and Alabama
The Department of Commerce has awarded grants for innovative workforce development, including almost $11 million to the City of Birmingham and a portion of $23.5 million to Alabama. Birmingham’s grant is for health care workforce, while the state’s money is for the WTIA Workforce Institute. – U.S. Economic Development Administration
Grant goes to Jasper Lumber Co.
A $300,000 Community Development Block Grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission will go to Jasper Lumber Co. Sixty new jobs will be created by the grant, which will be used for the reconstruction of two rail lines that lead from the mill to the main railroad. – Alexander City Outlook
Rick Flair’s virtual Wooooo! Wings stores open in Alabama
Professional wrestler Rick Flair has opened a virtual wings restaurant – one with a menu available only through delivery – in Huntsville and Tuscaloosa. Flair’s Wooooo! Wings is opening in four other cities. In Huntsville and Tuscaloosa, it’s available through Uber Eats. – Comic Book
Historic Decatur house transforming
