Chinese Team with Alabama Biofuel

A Chinese firm specializing in alcohol-based fuels says it has formed a partnership with a Livingston company that plans to make fuel from trees.

American Jiyane Greentech Holdings Ltd. announced in March that it has formed a partnership with Gulf Coast Energy Inc., of Livingston. The Chinese company described the partnership as creating its “U.S. production flagship.”

Gulf Coast Energy has developed a biomass gasification process and has a plant creating fuel from wood waste, and company officials say the new blending plant should speed up Gulf Coast’s project.

AJGH officials say they expect the plant in Livingston will be the first step toward a nationwide distribution network for biomass fuel.
