Jeffrey Brewer has been named CEO of Goodwyn Mills and Cawood Inc. Brewer had led the firm’s Birmingham office since its inception in 1998 and recently served as president of GMC’s north region.

Brandon Bruce has been named executive artistic director of the Birmingham Children’s Theatre. He replaces Scarlotte Deupree Kilgore, who is moving overseas.

Don Bigler, vice chairman of BBB Industries LLC in Daphne, has been presented the NAPA Partnership Award.

Bill Pitts has been named senior vice president-credit administration at NobleBank & Trust.

Wallace State Community College math instructor Dana Adams has been named the recipient of the inaugural Dale P. Parnell Distinguished Faculty award, presented by the American Association of Community Colleges.

Beth Garfrerick, assistant professor in the communications department at the University of North Alabama, has earned her Accreditation in Public Relations.

Craig Powell has been named chair of the Department of Neurobiology at the UAB School of Medicine, as well as director of the Civitan International Research Center. Yolanda Harris has been named UAB’s principal investigator of a study that looks at how MS impacts decision-making in children. Also, Pankaj Arora, assistant professor in the UAB Division of Cardiovascular Disease, will serve as editor for Circulation: Genomic and Precision Medicine.

University of North Alabama Professor Melissa Driskell will give five Earthscope lectures nationally. She is one of only five speakers chosen from research institutions around the country to give the lectures.

Denise Brown has joined Stantec as an area manager in the Mobile office. Brown has 32 years of experience in environmental, civil and structural engineering.
