Daniel Givan, a professor in the School of Dentistry at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, has been named secretary to the board of directors of the American College of Prosthodontists. Tina Mozelle Braziel, director of the Ada Long Creative Writing Workshop in the UAB Department of English, has been awarded the 2017 Philip Levine Prize for Poetry, sponsored by the Creative Writing Program at California State University, Fresno. In addition, Elizabeth Benton, an associate professor in UAB’s Department of Pediatrics, has received the 2018 Paul V. Miles Fellowship Award from the American Board of Pediatrics.

Jerry Stump has been named president and CEO of Volkert Inc. Perry Hand, former CEO, will continue as chairman of the board.
Wolfgang Kneer, of SWJ Breilmann, was presented the H. Pettus Randall III Entrepreneur of the Year award by the Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama.
