Capell & Howard expands by eight attorneys and a new office

Sasser, Sefton & Brown PC and Red Oak Legal PC merge with Capell & Howard

Attorneys from Sasser, Sefton & Brown PC and Red Oak Legal PC are joining Capell & Howard PC, effective February 1. Capell & Howard, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2023, will grow by eight attorneys and add an office in Tuscaloosa.

“We could not be more pleased to have the attorneys from these two outstanding law firms join us at Capell & Howard,” said Courtney Williams, shareholder and managing director of Capell & Howard. “They will allow us to increase the firm’s capacity to serve clients in our existing practice areas, like estate planning, administration and civil litigation, and also to expand further into financial services areas like foreclosure, creditors rights and bankruptcy.”

Sasser, Sefton & Brown PC was founded in 1990 and serves clients throughout Alabama and the Southeast from its Montgomery location. Bowdy “Bo” Brown, Patrick Sefton and Timothy Gallagher will join Capell & Howell as shareholders; Sherrie Phillips will be of counsel; and Jack Pitts will join as an attorney. Sasser, Sefton & Brown’s founder, Robert Sasser, retired from the practice at the end of 2022.

Red Oak Legal PC was founded in 2013 and has offices in Montgomery and Tuscaloosa. G. Stephen Wiggins and Raley Wiggins will join Capell & Howard as shareholders and John “Jed” Carter will join as an attorney. Stephen Wiggins will remain in the Tuscaloosa office, while Raley Wiggins and Carter will join Capell & Howard’s Montgomery office.

Capell & Howard has offices in Montgomery, the Auburn-Opelika area and now Tuscaloosa.
