Bob Thompson has been named area president of Lawrence, Limestone and Morgan counties for Bank Independent. He succeeds David Mathews, who announced his planned retirement for the end of the year.
Thompson joined Bank Independent in December 2020 as city president over the Athens/Limestone County market. A graduate of Athens State University, he brings more than 13 years of banking experience to the position.
“Bob Thompson has established himself as a trusted leader. He has grown successful relationships through his involvement in the community and business development efforts,” said Rick Wardlaw, CEO of Bank Independent. “We are confident he will continue to be a strong advocate for this vibrant business market.”
Thompson serves as board chairman for Huntsville Community Drum Line and as a board member of the Limestone County Economic Development Association.
