Bank Independent has established an endowment fund at the University of North Alabama. The Bank Independent Leadership Fund, which will provide a continued source of revenue for the university, is the first endowment established for the university’s annual fund. – University of North Alabama

 

Lee estate told to pay $2.5 million in ‘Mockingbird’ dispute

The estate of Monroeville writer Harper Lee has been told to pay more than $2.5 million in damages and fees to Dramatic Publishing for limiting stage productions of “To Kill a Mockingbird” in the wake of a Broadway revival. Dramatic’s adaptation has been a staple of schools and community theaters, including the version staged yearly in Monroeville. – The New York Times

Launch of UA cubesat fails

The launch of Astra’s Rocket 3.3, with a NASA-sponsored cubesat from the University of Alabama onboard, failed on Thursday.  The rocket’s upper stage appeared to tumble out of control after stage separation about three minutes after liftoff at Cape Canaveral. – Space News

 

Alabama Power Foundation gives Stillman $100,000

A $100,000 grant from the Alabama Power Foundation to Stillman College will go to the school’s Black Male Initiative. That initiative supports Stillman’s STEM education and workforce initiatives.  – Fox 6
