Two students in Auburn University’s Harbert College of Business entrepreneurship programs took third place in Amazon Web Services U.S. University Startup Competition.
Mit Patel, a senior in mechanical engineering and accounting, and Daniel Mazur, a senior in mechanical engineering, are part of Auburn’s New Venture Accelerator, 8,000 square feet of office space dedicated to student startups.
The duo co-founded SwiftSku, which plugs into point-of-sale systems to securely transmit transaction information.
Their third-place finish brings them up to $100,000 in Amazon Web Services credits, $5,000 cash, an interview with the accelerator Techstars and an interview with the venture capital firm Dorm Room Fund.
“We were delighted to seen Auburn student-team place third in this prestigious national competition,” said Lou Bifano, director of entrepreneurship strategy at Auburn. “Mit and Daniel are bringing an exciting data analytics service to market for independent convenience store owners. They will be able to put their AWS winnings to good use.”
