Alliance Metals plans move into U.S. zorba market
Alliance Metals, which is starting up a new smelter at its plant in Leighton in Colbert County, is buying domestic zorba to make into cast alloys. Zorba is mixed metal produced by automotive shredders that consists mostly of aluminum scrap. It can be recycled into aluminum products once other elements are removed. – Argus Media

Orange Beach buys beachfront property
The City of Orange Beach has purchased almost nine acres of beachfront property, with about half of it planned to be turned into a public beach. The $13 million purchase of 8.7 acres will include a little over four acres for a public beach and also land for CoastAL, a restaurant and bar development led by the owners of the Flora-Bama bar. – Gulf Coast News Today

Michigan auto supply company will hire 100 for Athens project
Michigan-based KC Logistics plans to hire 100 employees for an auto supply industry project in Athens. The Athens City Council approved selling 65 acres to KC Logistics for $250,000. KC Logistics will transport seats from TBAKI to Mazda Toyota Manufacturing. – Sacramento Bee

Business Council PAC endorses Ivey
ProgressPAC, the Business Council of Alabama’s political action committee, has endorsed Gov. Kay Ivey in her bid for re-election. The PAC also endorsed Lt. Gov. Will Ainsworth and Attorney General Steve Marshall for re-election. – Alabama Political Reporter 

Encompass may spin off home care, hospice group
Recent executive appointments by Birmingham-based Encompass Health indicate the health care behemoth may be headed toward creating a new home care and hospice group rather than selling those properties. After saying in December it was looking for “strategic alternatives” regarding its home care and hospice units, speculation of a sale grew when Encompass representatives were seen in Rhode Island, home of CVS. But after appointing home care and hospice executives recently, a spinoff may be more likely. – Home Health Care News
