Edward K. Aldag Jr. earned $16.9 million as CEO of Medical Properties Trust in 2020, making him the top-paid CEO in Alabama. The list, compiled by the Associated Press and Equilar, calculates pay including salary, bonus, stock awards, stock options, deferred compensation and other benefits and perks. The list only includes public companies with revenue of more than $1 billion. Medical Properties Trust is a real estate investment trust that invests in health care properties. – AL.com

UA-spawned company moving operations to Delaware
ThruPore Technologies, which was spun out of the University of Alabama nine years ago, is moving its Tuscaloosa operations to Delaware. The company, which makes the Dr. Filter HVAC filter, will invest $1 million in renovating facilities it already has in Newark, Delaware.  – Delaware Business Times

Huntsville poultry breeding company building Texas facility
Aviagen North America, a Huntsville-based poultry breeding company, will invest $24 million in a facility in a Longview, Texas, industrial park. The company will build a 50,000-to-60,000-square-foot facility on about 16 acres. – Longview News-Journal

Florida group buys Mountain Brook insurance firm
Florida-based AssuredPartners has acquired Anchor Pardue Insurance of Mountain Brook. AssuredPartners has more than 8,000 employees throughout North America, London, Belgium and Scotland. – Insurance Journal
