Alabama’s March unemployment rate of 2.9% ties the all-time record low unemployment rate registered in September 2019. The number is down from February’s rate of 3% and below March 2021’s rate of 3.7%. – Gov. Kay Ivey’s office

 

Bioscience conference planned for April

BIO Alabama, the trade organization for the biosciences, will hold a two-day conference in Birmingham April 25-26 with the theme “Building Alabama’s Biohorizons.” Keynote speaker is Melinda Richter, global head of innovation at Johnson & Johnson, JLabs. – AL.com

New USFL begins play in Birmingham

The new United States Football League begins play in Birmingham Saturday night with the Birmingham Stallions taking on the New Jersey Generals at Protective Stadium. All 40 regular season games for the league will be played in Birmingham. – WVTM 13

 

Shipbuilding conference set for Mobile

The Gulf States Shipbuilders Consortium annual conference April 27-28 at Mobile’s Admiral Hotel will feature shipbuilding and repair companies, manufacturers, staffing agencies, supply chain companies and others from around the region.
