A group of Alabama steelworkers battling Outokumpu Stainless USA over back wages won $13 million Tuesday after an attorney’s alleged misconduct led to a default judgment. There were 276 current and former employees of the Calvert manufacturer involved in the lawsuit.  – Law 360

 

GE Auburn plant faces unfair labor charge

A former General Electric Aviation employee has filed a federal complaint against the Auburn plant, alleging she was fired for her participation in a labor organization. Brenyetta Talley’s position required heavy lifting, and she says that after she told her employer she was pregnant, she was denied other opportunities with less lifting. She says she was terminated when she said she couldn’t continue in her current position. – AL.com

Gulf Coast chambers to meet for social

The annual Gulf Coast Multi-Chamber Annual Social will take place at the Flora-Bama on Oct. 19 from 5-7 p.m. Members of the local chambers are invited to attend and network with members of other chambers.
