Alabama sports apparel brand expands to Mississippi

Tom Beckbe, the Birmingham-based sporting apparel brand with locations in Mountain Brook Village in Birmingham and in Wilson, Arkansas, is expanding to Mississippi with a third location in Oxford. The nearly 4,000-square-foot space will be at Oxford’s historic Courhouse Square and feature Beckbe’s men’s and women’s outerwear, sporting items and more.  – Tom Beckbe

 

Leesburg manufacturer laying off employees

Parkdale Inc., a textile manufacturer in Leesburg, plans to lay off 76 employees in mid-October. The planned layoffs are on the Alabama WARN list, which compiles planned layoffs and closings around the state. – Made in Alabama

Buffett was anonymous plane donor in Mobile

Music superstar Jimmy Buffett, who died last week, last year donated two aircraft to Mobile’s Battleship Memorial Park anonymously. Buffett was born in Pascagoula, Mississippi, but he grew up in Mobile. – News 5
