Alabama Power selling Birmingham’s Powell plant
After a redevelopment plan fell through for the Powell Avenue Steam Plant in Birmingham, Alabama Power has listed the property for sale for $10 million. Alabama Power has owned the plant since 1952. A planned redevelopment featured the theater Alamo Drafthouse as the anchor tenant, but Alamo withdrew from the project in 2024. – AL.com
Gulf Shores moving forward with pedestrian bridge
Gulf Shores is moving forward with the construction of a $24.3 million pedestrian bridge over the Intracoastal Waterway. The latest plan includes the bridge, elevators and plazas on both sides. – OBA
Hoover restaurant opens retail store
Tre Luna Bar & Kitchen, an Italian restaurant in Hoover, has opened Tre Luna & Grocery on Birmingham’s Southside. The store offers many of the restaurant’s dishes, including pastas, sauces, chicken and tuna salad, dips and more, in take-home containers. – Bham Now
