Alabama Power gets OK to pay for new gas plant with rate increase

The Alabama Public Service Commission Tuesday voted to allow Alabama Power to purchase a power generation station in Autauga County and pay for it with an increase in rates. The vote to OK the purchase of the Lindsay Hill facility was unanimous. – AL.com

Russell Athletic cutting jobs, moving out of Alex City

Russell Athletic, an Alabama fixture for more than 120 years, will no longer operate at the Fruit of the Loom distribution center in Alexander City, moving out of its home city at the end of September. Fruit of the Loom is cutting 80 jobs at the center, according to notices filed with the city and state. – AL.com

Dr. Kimberly Robinson has announced her retirement as CEO of the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville. Robinson took a leave of absence from the position in June. – News 19

Tesla service center opens in Birmingham

Electric vehicle company Tesla has opened a service center in Birmingham, its first in Alabama. The service center is in Birmingham’s Lakeview District in the former Southern Distributor and Auto Electric and Carburetor building. – CBS 42
