Alabama Commerce Secretary Greg Canfield and others told the US. Surface Transportation Board that Amtrak’s return to the Gulf Coast would have a  negative impact on the Port of Mobile. Some advocates of restoring the service say freight operators such as CSX are stonewalling the longtime project . – AL.com

 

JetBlue orders 30 more Airbus A220 jets

JetBlue is buying 30 additional Airbus SE A220-300 planes, bringing its total order to 100 jets. The Airbus plant in Mobile has produced A220s for JetBlue. The 30 additional jets will either be produced in Mobile or in the plant at Mirabel, Quebec in Canada or a combination of the two. – Alabama NewsCenter

Vulcan names new CFO, others

Mary Andrews Carlisle will become senior vice president and chief financial officer of Vulcan Materials Co. effective Sept. 1, replacing retiring Suzanne Wood. Encompass opens rehab hospital in Illinois

BJC HealthCare and Birmingham-based Encompass Health have opened the Rehabilitation Institute of Southern Illinois, a 40-bed inpatient rehab hospital in Shiloh, Illinois. The hospital features all-private patient rooms, a therapy gym and more. – Encompass Health
