Heersink gifts pave way for UAB Canadian partnership
Multimillion-dollar gifts made by Alabama physician and philanthropist Marnix E. Heersink to the University of Alabama at Birmingham and McMaster University in Canada will forge a partnership between the two schools. The investments are aimed at creating biotech commercialization hubs and global health institutes at both universities. A $95 million gift to the UAB School of Medicine led to the school being renamed the UAB Marnix E. Heersink School of Medicine. – University of Alabama at Birmingham
