For the third straight month, Alabama hit a record-low unemployment rate. June’s 2.6% rate represents 60,338 unemployed people. The number of people employed rose to 2.23 million, another record.  – Alabama Political Reporter

 

Battle ‘confident’ Space Command headed to Huntsville

Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle is “very confident” the U.S. Space Command headquarters is coming to Redstone Arsenal. The U.S. Air Force announced the move last year, but Colorado officials have been contesting it. Battle says the relocation to Alabama will happen. – Alabama Daily News

Department of Labor investigating Alabama auto supplier

Following a report by Reuters, the Alabama Department of Labor is investigating an auto supplier plant in Luverne. SMART Alabama, which provides parts to Hyundai’s Montgomery plant since 2003, is accused in the report of employing children as young as 12. The company has denied the report. AL.com
