KultureCity, a Birmingham-based nonprofit that provides services for people with sensory processing disorders, is interested in buying the historic Powell Avenue Steam Plant to create an innovation center. Home Depot grants go to 6 HBCUs in Alabama

Six historically black colleges and universities in Alabama are among 23 recipients of grants from Home Depot for campus upgrades. Two schools (Selma University, Shelton State Community College) received $250,000 grants, and four schools (Alabama A&M University, J.F.
