More than $144 million in grants has been awarded to healthcare providers and institutions throughout the state as part of the Alabama Rural Health Transformation Program (ARHTP).
The grants support projects to improve healthcare access, quality and outcomes in rural areas.
“Alabama is serious about creating systematic changes through the ARHTP to ensure every citizen has access to quality care. This program is enabling institutions covering every part of the state to improve healthcare for Alabamians through projects that are both innovative and sustainable,” said Gov. Kay Ivey. “From the federal policymakers and state administrators to our professional healthcare leaders, I commend all the thoughtful work dedicated to ensuring the success of this program.”
The full list of recipients and projects can be seen here, but some of the grants are:
- $1.4 million to Gadsden Regional Medical Center LLC to modernize hospital security and emergency communication systems.
- $6.38 million to Auburn University to establish a shared digital health and cybersecurity network.
- $1.54 million to the Clay County Healthcare Authority to expand primary and specialty care.
- $2.08 million to Faulkner University to establish the Eagle Care Mobile Health Network.
- $464,000 to the Alabama Community College System to establish a statewide training network that awards college credit for qualifying military training and creates accelerated pathways for veterans to complete healthcare credentials.
- $7 million to the University of Alabama at Birmingham to expand the pipeline for recruiting, training and retaining physicians for rural practice to serve 35 counties in Alabama.
- $177,961 to Anderson Family Care to establish weekend clinic hours in Demopolis.
- $250,000 to Capstone Health to implement weekend clinic operations at a health center in Jasper.
- $31,152 to the Floyd Cherokee Medical Center LLC to expand virtual school-based mental health therapy services.
- $935,895 to AltaPointe Health Systems to establish the Alabama School Mental Health Network.
