Alabama added $5.3 billion in capital investment in 2021

According to preliminary numbers given at this week’s Economic Development Association of Alabama’s winter conference in Montgomery, the state added $5.3 billion in capital investment and more than 9,000 jobs in 2021. Alabama international trade director Lockhart retires

UA cubesat part of planned launch this week

Astra Space will launch four NASA-sponsored cubesats, including one built by the University of Alabama, as soon as Friday at Cape Canaveral in Florida. The UA cubesat will test a drag sail designed to rapidly deorbit the satellite. – Space News

 

Tacky Jacks owner killed in vehicle fire

George “Buddy” Skipper, owner of the restaurant chain Tacky Jacks, was killed in a vehicle fire Sunday in Clarke County. Skipper bought the first Tacky Jacks in Orange Beach in 1987 and later opened two more in Fort Morgan and Gulf Shores. – Fox 10
