The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs has established a division dedicated to expanding access to high-speed internet throughout the state. The Digital Expansion Division was created through the Connect Alabama Act of 2021. – Alabama Political Reporter

 

UAH close to having new interim president

Chuck Karr, former engineering dean at the University of Alabama, has been recommended as interim president of the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Little to no opposition is expected when the board of trustees votes on his appointment. – Dothan Eagle

Etowah County economic development director stepping down

Marilyn Lott is leaving her post as Etowah County’s economic development director after three years on the job. She’s leaving as of Dec. 2 for family reasons. Under her tenure, the Little Canoe Creek Mega-Site was developed. – The Gadsden Times

 

Piggly Wiggly stores donate to Clean Water Alabama

Local Piggly Wiggly stores and owner Danny Manning donated $10,000 to Clean Water Alabama, a Baldwin County-based water preservation nonprofit group. The money will help fund a kids’ book project of Clean Water Alabama. – Fox 10

 

Boeing donates to support military mental health

Boeing gave a $75,000 grant to Centerstone’s Military Services to support free mental health services for Alabama service members. The money will allow Centerstone to continue to provide free services to veterans and active-duty military personnel in Alabama. – Spot On Alabama
