Limestone courthouse lawn will be renovated
Athens Main Street and the Limestone County Commission are partnering to restore and reimagine the county courthouse’s lawn following tornado damage in 2024. The EF-1 tornado struck downtown Athens, damaging the courthouse property. The area will be developed into a public gathering area. – Fox 54
Major League Baseball is bringing a game to Birmingham’s Rickwood Field for the third straight year. The league will hold its East-West Classic, a tribute to the Negro Leagues All-Star Games held from 1933-1962, at the historic field. The game will be on June 19. – Bham Now
Little River State Park will reopen
Little River State Park in Atmore will reopen this summer after being closed to the public since 2020. The park will open with a new entrance bridge across Little River, eight campsites, 15 RV campsites, new fishing pier and more. – Bama Buzz
